Notes Christened on 30th November 1824 at Presbyterian Church, Selby. Labourer on daughter Charlotte's birth Certificate. In 1841 census is aged 15 (rounded down) and living with a family called Palmer in Wentworth (the Palmer family was employed on the Wentworth estate as Park Keepers and next door was the blacksmith). In 1861 census is living in Street with his mother-in-law Ann Kitchen (who is Head) and his wife and family of 5 children. In 1871 census is a widower, living at Steet with sons Willie, (age 13) and Alfred (age 9) and daughters Jane (age 24, unmarried) and Frances (age 11), plus granddaughter Ann Bell (age 3) - it is not known who the mother and father are for this child, but FamilySearch shows her as being christened on 29/12/1867 in Brampton Bierlow. Daughter Charlotte's marriage certificate shows him as a blacksmith. and the 1881 census as a Blacksmith at Works. In 1881, he had his son Alfred and daughter Jane, plus her husband John Cooper and their children Mary (age 9), Margaret (age 4) and Maud (age 2) living with him in Street. By 1891 was living with his wife Elizabeth in Hoyland Nether. In 1901 still working as a blacksmith, connected with colliery work, at the age of 77.
