Her maiden surname is not known and there is no record of her having married Richard Gill, but her three children with him are all recorded as having Eleanor Gill as their mother. In 1841 census she is aged 48 and living at the Coast Guard Station, New Shoreham with her husband and family. Curiously, her death is registered as Eleanor Ball, wife of Richard Gill Ball.
