Notes Born in 1834/5. FamilySearch.com shows his Christening on 15/12/1833 in Greasborough. In 1851 census was living at Lee Brook with his 2 brothers and his sister. He was employed as a Groom (presumably with horses at the Fitzwilliam Estate). In 1869, his marriage certificate shows he was a widower and labourer, living in Wath-upon-Dearne. In 1871 census he was living at Lee Brook with wife Ann (Walker) and son John William. He was aged 37 and was born in Haugh (close to Greasborough). He was an Excavator. 1881 census shows he was aged 46, living at Lea Brook with his wife Mary (3rd wife) and two sons (by his second marriage) and that he was a Bricklayer's Labourer. In 1891 census he is a General Labourer in Earl Fitzwilliam's kitchen, aged 56 and living with his 3rd wife, Mary. On son's marriage certificate (1899) he is a General Labourer. In 1901 census is living with his wife Mary in Lea Brook and is a Domestic Gardener, and living very close to his son John William. His grave in Brampton Bierlow churchyard says he was aged 71. He is buried with his first two wives (Mary and Ann).
