Notes In 1901 census was aged 13, so born about 1888. On his 1st World War Army Pension record from the Royal Fusiliers (Service No. G/29402) he is noted as being 5' 3" tall and having an occupation as a leather dresser. He lived at 37 Lansdowne Place, Southwark with his mother. The Army pension recod shows he was discharged in 1917 on medical grounds as unfit for service. He lived with his sister, Mary, in Tooting until approx 1948 before living with Ellen. He was a tiny man, he never married, and he smoked Woodbine cigarettes in the garden.
