After retirement, has devoted many hours to Southwick Methodist Church, in many roles, but especially in printing the monthly Newsletter which he and his wife took on from William Randall (20). Also actively involved in the Southwick, Sussex, Society restoring and running the ancient Manor Cottage as a heritage centre for the town.
Died at St George's Hospital, Tooting, 3 days after an operation for a haemorrhage in the brain. Buried at Southwick Cemetery on 14th September 2005.
