Siblings Children John Derek Rawson Notes Born in Sheffield, but emigrated with his parents to Kimberley South Africa. At the start of the Boer War, returned to England with his mother and then sailed back to South Africa on 25th August 1900. Studied Law at St Andrews University, Grahamstown, South Africa, but never qualified. On his return in October 1914 (see passenger list attached), his uncle Joseph Hardy Pickford secured him a job as a Legal clerk at Rotherham solicitors Oxley and Coward, where he met Eveline Walker Parkin. Lived at 35 Broomfield Grove, Rotherham in 1921 census (with his mother) and at the time of his marriage. In 1921 is stated to be a solicitor working for Rotherham District Council, but this is an exaggeration as he is a Deputy Clerk there on his son's birth certificate.
