Notes In 1861 census is living in Langsett Road with his parents and sister. In 1881 he was living at 132, Langsett Road, Nether Hallam in Yorkshire with his parents and sister and is stated to be a Joiner. Emigrated to South Africa between 1886 and 1891 because he cannot be found in that census. Had a cafe called "The Creamery" in the Du Toitspan Road, Kimberley. From 1899 to 1900 wrote a letter/diary relating the events of the seige of Kimberley.
