He had his own son Robert living there and a 7 year old grandson called John. His daughter Margaret (surname Law) and her son Andrew, aged 7 months) were in the home too. In 1861 was a farm labourer, living at South Bridge Street, Bathgate. In 1871 census was living with his wife Susan in Bathgate. He was a retired Farm Servant living at 50 Kirkroads Cottage, Bathgate.
