Notes Parish record states that "June 19th - John Arnot & Lily Binnie had a child born in fornication, baptised 27th John Arnot". In 1841 was a one of a number of farm hands living at Ballanbreich Farm, Muiravonside. Another person there was Elisabeth Sharp, his future wife. He was aged 20. In 1851 and 1861, was aged 31 and 41 and living at Birniehill (Buney Hill), Muiravonside with his wife and chiildren. Labourer on his son's marriage certificate. Died of Influenza, in the presence of his son Robert. He was stated to be a surface man, and widower of Elizabeth Sharp. He died at Craigs, Muiravonside.
